How It Works

Most of the time, saying you're 34 is enough. But occasionally life asks for more than that — a visa form wants your age in completed months, a medical record needs your exact age on a specific date, or you're just curious how many days you've actually been alive. That's what this calculator is for.

Enter your date of birth and it works out your exact age in years, months, and days as of today — or as of any date you choose. It also tells you how many days you've lived and how many days until your next birthday, including what day of the week it falls on.

It's handy for parents tracking infant development in months, for legal documents that need age at a specific date, for working out age eligibility for things like superannuation access or pension entitlements, and for settling those birthday arguments where two people born in the same year insist they're the same age.

How to use it

  1. Enter your date of birth using the date picker.
  2. The As of Date defaults to today — leave it as-is for your current age, or change it to check your age on any past or future date.
  3. Hit Calculate Age and you'll see your exact breakdown plus total days lived and your next birthday countdown.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — just change the 'As of Date' field. This is useful for working out your age at a future event, checking age eligibility at a specific point in time, or confirming age for a legal document with a particular date on it.

For children under two, age in months matters because developmental milestones, vaccination schedules, and medication dosages are all calculated that way. This calculator gives you that exact figure rather than making you count it manually.

Yes. The calculation accounts for leap years and the varying lengths of different months, so your result is accurate regardless of when you were born.

Leap day birthdays are handled correctly. In non-leap years your birthday is treated as March 1 for the purposes of the next birthday countdown.

Because some years have 366 days. Leap years add up over a lifetime — someone who's 40 has lived through roughly 10 leap years, adding 10 days to the simple calculation.
